Master Classes

MASTER CLASSES

Master Classes will be taught by the judges at the event. A nominal fee of $35 will be charged to dancers who wish to participate in Master Classes and are competitors at the event. Pre-registration closes on June 9th. On-site registration fee is $40 per person.

ONLY Studios attending Nationals may register their dancers for Master Classes on the Individual Registration Form.

Directors, teachers, and parents are allowed to watch master classes but need to be registered. Two (2) passes will be provided for each studio competing with groups. A nominal fee of $20 will be charged for additional non-dancer attendees. Cell phones and/or video cameras are not allowed. There is no taping of master classes.

MEET THE FACULTY

Charleigh was introduced to dance at the age of three. Two years later, she began competing which fostered her desire to pursue a career as a professional dancer. In high school, Ms. France joined the San Jose Ballet School. Later, she attended San Diego State School of Music and Dance earning a place in their dance department. As a member, Charleigh had the opportunity to take advantage of national and international instruction, such as: traveling to Poland for the World Dance Festival, a summer intensive at Tisch School of the Arts in New York City, and master classes at Julliard.  After relocating to Las Vegas, she was hired for a role with Cirque Du Soleil and as a cast member of “Jubilee.”  Charleigh has choreographed for and performed with Barcelo Resorts and CoCo Bongo in Mexico. During this time, she was recognized by recording artists Ciara, Christina Aguilera, and Busta Rhymes. She has performed in music videos for recording artist LaMont Wheat as a principle dancer with Twisted Movement Dance Company. Charleigh’s career recently brought her back to Southern California, where she is currently performing, choreographing, directing, and teaching. She has continued to share her love for dance with dancers of all ages in San Diego and Northern California, where her choreography has won multiple awards.  Charleigh is heading up the DX Nationals Parade of Stars will be teaching at the DX – 3D Dance Convention this year as well.

Lindsey began dancing at the age of three and later moved to Southern California to pursue her dance career.  She has had the opportunity to work artists, such as; Beyonce, Kat Graham, and Lil’Wayne.  She was requested to train Charlie Sheen for his dance scene in the Roman Coppola film “A Glimpse in the Mind of Charles Swan the III,” in which she also appeared onscreen as a dancer and actress. Ms. McLevis has been a part of the Grammy’s, Latin Grammy’s, and the Olympics, and has appeared on So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Got Talent, First Look LA, and the news.  Her commercial credits include: Old Navy, SENSA, and Salon Pas, with industrials for NIKE, Amway, Sexy Hair Co., and Oakley Sunglasses.  She has performed and taught internationally in places like Costa Rica, Guam, and the Bahamas, and has performed for one of the Saudi Arabian royal families. Lindsey had the opportunity to train a troupe of Chinese acrobats, and was the dance captain and assistant choreographer for a major production overseas.  Her company credits include Terry Beeman’s Dance Co., as a dancer and aerialist, Joelle Martinec’s SoleVita Dance Co., and RhetOracle Dance Company.  Lindsey is so grateful for the opportunities she has been given, and credits her amazing support system which has enabled her to chase her dreams.

Mr. Pitti Williams has an unbridled love and devotion to the world of dance. His wide knowledge of dance styles has also afforded him the ability to work with dancers of all ages at numerous studios and is currently teaching hip hop and acro at a studio in Florida.  As a choreographer, he has created numbers for groups across the United States, as well as, the half time production for the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl. Mr. Pitti Williams has nearly a decade of adjudicating experience and continues to judge for many nationally recognized dance organizations throughout the country.

Ms. Tarpley began dancing under the tutelage of Frances Taylor in Durango, Colorado. She continued her training nationally at Interlochen Arts Academy and internationally at The Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London.  After graduating, Mary danced with Compagnia Zappala in Sicily, Italy, before moving to Paris, France. Upon returning to the United States, Ms. Tarpley took residence on the west coast, where she danced with State Street Ballet, as a soloist for the Santa Barbara Ballet, a Principal for City Ballet of Los Angeles, and was a member of Invertigo Dance Theatre. Currently, she calls Chicago home and is a First Company member of Chicago Dance Crash, has danced for the Civic Ballet of Chicago, Chicago Repertory Ballet, Be the Groove, Dance for Life, and countless other companies.  Ms. Tarpley has had the opportunity to do an extensive amount of print and video work for dance, including, Jordan Matter’s Dancers Among Us and Dancers After Dark. Mary continues to share her passion for the art of dance with the next generation of talent at numerous dance programs in the greater Chicago area, at locations, such as; Hubbard Street Youth Dance Program, as a Company Director for Lake Forest Dance Academy, and as a Ballet Mistress at On Your Toes Academy of Dance. She can also be found as a summer faculty member for Ballet Durango in Colorado, as a coach for Youth American Grand Prix, and teaching master classes around the globe. She has produced several of her own shows and her choreography has received numerous awards. Recently, Ms. Tarpley had the opportunity to teach and set choreography in Cambodia at The Central School Ballet Phnom Penh.  In addition to being a highly active and respected member of the dance community, Mary recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from DePaul University, where she received dual degrees in Mathematics and Physics. Mary will be teaching at the 3D Conventions next season.

Yoshi is a driven performer and choreographer who indulges in many different disciplines. He has a strong passion for contemporary based movement and a new found talent for aerial dance, all combined with his fascination for theatrics. Born and raised in Brownsville, TX, he later continued his professional training at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA, where he was a ballet major and trained under Roni Koresh and Brian Sanders. His love for travel and culture led him to accept the opportunity to perform for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as a dance captain and aerial coordinator, and is currently the resident Choreography Director of multiple shows for the prestigious cruise line. He continues touring internationally with the aerial acrobatics company, On the FLY, as a choreographer, dancer, and aerialist. With On the FLY, he performed on season nine of hit television show America’s Got Talent and was runner-up on the second season of TruTV's Fake Off.  When not traveling, Yoshi lends his expertise and knowledge to adjudicating competitions across the country.

Chris Wendorff was born and raised in the great Midwest state of Minnesota. At the youthful age of nine, he began his dance training at a local dance studio. As a competitive dancer, he attended many competitions and conventions throughout the country and was presented with numerous awards and scholarships along the way. To further his dance training, Chris decided to attend the prestigious University of Point Park in Pittsburgh, PA, where he earned a B.A. in dance. While there, he continued learning and training in a variety of styles, such as; the iconic style of Bob Fosse to commercial jazz, from ballet to modern, as well as contemporary. As a working professional in the industry, Mr. Wendorff has had the opportunity to perform in a large number of stage productions, in concerts, and upon cruise ships, most notable, Carnival Cruise Line. He has also worked for Walt Disney World as a parade/stage performer.  Chris continues to teach many master classes and conventions throughout the United States and, just recently, in the United Kingdom. Mr. Wendorff can also be found adjudicating various competitions across the country and truly loves and knows his craft. He is very excited to be here with all of the talented dancers this weekend!
