AmeriCup General Details
Rules
DX follows the USASF DANCE RULES, with additional rules outlined below.
πΊ Violations = 0.5 point deduction from Judge 3βs costume score
β± TIME LIMITS
1. Team Routine:
Min: 1:30 minutes
Max: 2:15 minutes
Timing: Starts/ends with first/last choreographed movement or music.
2. Solo (NEW):
Max: 2:00 minutes
No minimum. Same timing rules.
3. Duo/Trio Challenge (NEW):
Max: 2:00 minutes
No minimum. Same timing rules.
β PERFORMANCE & CONDUCT RULES
4. Compete in Order:
Must perform in scheduled order. Violations may result in disqualification or deduction.
5. Choreography:
Must be age-appropriate and family-friendly.
Vulgar or suggestive content is illegal.
6. Bump Up:
Teams may move up to the next division voluntarily.
7. Supervision:
Dancers must be supervised by a qualified adult at all times.
8. Costuming:
Must be age-appropriate and family-friendly.
Inappropriate costumes are illegal.
9. Team Numbers:
Min dancers per team: 4
No max limit
10. Substitutions:
Allowed for injury/serious circumstances.
Must be registered and have waiver on file.
π€ SPORTSMANSHIP
11. Code of Conduct Applies to:
Dancers, teachers, directors, parents, fans, etc.
Must:
Accept judgesβ decisions.
Avoid public criticism and show self-control.
Treat all participants with respect.
Avoid inappropriate language or gestures, including anything discriminatory.
Studios are responsible for conduct. Violations = deductions.
π PROPS
12. Prop Rules:
Set-up/tear-down: 2 mins max
Max height: 10 ft (Dancers canβt stand above 6 ft)
No: electricity, smoke/fog/fire, sprays, confetti, balloons
Floor-contacting parts must be taped
Damage = studio charged
No performing on judgesβ/staff furniture
πΈ PHOTOS & VIDEOS
13. Prohibited During Routines:
No photos/videos (includes phones).
Violation = disqualification or deduction
Allowed only during awards.
π DIVISIONS & TITLES
14. Division Minimums:
DX may combine age divisions with < 3 routines.
15. Champion Titles:
When only 1 routine in a division, score must be >65% to earn a title.
πΆ MUSIC
16. Copyright Compliance:
All music must comply with legal copyright laws at sanctioned events.
π AMERICUP = WORLDS QUALIFIER
Yes!
AmeriCup is a sanctioned USASF event since 2007.
It has qualified more World title holders than any other event producer.
Waivers
Parent Info
All dancers must have a signed waiver on file prior to competition weekend. Dancers and/or studios without a completed waiver will not be allowed to compete, and no fees will be refunded. Waivers must be submitted online through DanceBUG and are valid per event.
Parents are kindly asked to direct all questions to their program directors. DX communicates directly with program directors to ensure clear and consistent communication throughout the season. Parents are welcome to access and book their own hotel rooms using the direct booking links provided on our website.

Lack of registration
Inclement weather
Other unforeseen circumstances
DX also reserves the right to change the location, venue, or dates of an event.
If changes occur, registered studios will be notified with updated details.
Dance Xtreme USA is not liable for any costs related to travel arrangements made before receiving official confirmation, including but not limited to:
Hotel fees
Transportation costs
Bank/processing fees
β Recommendation: Please complete your event registration before making travel plans.
All events will proceed as scheduled, regardless of weather conditions.
No refunds will be issued for no-shows due to weather-related issues.
Please plan travel accordingly to ensure on-time arrival, even in the case of inclement weather.
