Teachers

  • Classes designed just for teachers. See schedule!

  • One teacher FREE with every 3 paid attendees. Assistants do not qualify as teachers and must register as dancers if they plan on attending. DX also encourages teachers to attend all regular classes, learn the material, take notes, and/or observe. Gather all the choreography for future routines.

Not every genre taught to each age group. Refer to schedule for details.

Minis

Minis should arrive at 11:45 AM each day. Their first session is at 11:55 AM. All classes run for 40 minutes. They should not attend the group warmup or specialty classes. A parent/guardian must be in attendance during their class times. An observer band is provided for each mini registered. You do not need to sign up for one. If your Mini would like to attend more classes, then bump them up to the junior level.

We’re kickin’ off the convention with specialty class offerings. Dancers will choose which class interests them. There are no additional fees for this opportunity.

Private Master Class

NEW - 30 minute time slots available. Faculty can clean routines, work on technique, or teach a short combo just for you. Great for groups or individuals. Interested?

DANCERS MUST BE REGISTERED FOR THE 3D CONVENTION IN ORDER TO PARTAKE IN A PRIVATE.

DX has paid the travel expenses for the faculty. You get to take advantage of them being here. Reserve a time slot now before they are gone!

  • Solo = $80 per person additional fee

  • 2-5 people = $50 per person additional fee

  • 6-10 people = $35 per person additional fee

  • 11+ people = $25 per person additional fee



Weekend Details

FINAL SHOW

Dancers will perform the last routine they learn on Sunday for parents.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Dancers attend the audition class and will be taken through a mock audition process. They will also be taught a short combination that will be used the following day during their actual audition. All dancers, from each age category, are eligible for scholarships. Minis do not have an actual audition class. Faculty will select mini recipients based on their class participation.

MULTIPLE SCHOLARSHIPS

Dancers who earn multiple scholarship certificates may use them all. However, one certificate per convention is allowed. They would need to register for additional location.

EVERYONE IS ELIGIBLE

All dancers are eligible for the scholarships. Faculty will ensure the actual audition is a great experience for all dancers. DX strongly encourages everyone to go through the process for the experience.

Age Breakdown

Age as of December 31, 2024. Dancers may bump up a level.

  • Mini: 8 and younger

  • Junior: 9 to 11 yr.

  • Teen: 12 to 14 yr.

  • Senior: 15+ yr.

    ONE DAY CONVENTIONS
    DX does offer a one day convention option. One day participants can register for the one day convention for Saturday OR Sunday.


FAQS

  1. Minis take classes, perform in the 3D Extravaganza, have an opportunity to earn scholarships, and get a taste of what a convention is all about. It's a great way for them to eXperience 3D! One free Observer Pass will be provided to the studio for the appropriate parent/guardian for each registered Mini dancer.

  2. Early Bird offer applies to all registrations postmarked 30 days prior to the first day of the convention. If fees are not paid in full 30 days prior, early bird offer will not be applied.

  3. Observer Passes must be visible for the DX staff at all times during the convention classes. Observers are NOT allowed into the AUDITION classes.

  4. Those attending as teachers must officially be on staff as a teacher. Assistants do not qualify as teachers and must register as dancers if they plan on attending.

  5. Belongings should be kept and observers should sit as far back against the walls as possible to provide the maximum amount of room for the dancers.

  6. No excessive noise or talking during the classes. It can be distracting to the dancers and teacher.

  7. All returned checks will be subject to a $45 fee.

  8. No refunds on convention fees. NO EXCEPTIONS.

  9. Independent entries are welcome! Dancers who are not with a studio may still register for the convention.

  10. Scholarships may be redeemed by entering the certificate code during Step 5 - Review - next to the dancer’s name.

  11. Studio checks will be accepted 21 days prior to the convention date. After that, credit cards, cashier’s checks and/or money orders allowed.

  12. Day of registration must be paid by cash, credit card, cashier's check or money order. DX does not accept personal OR studio checks at any events, at anytime.

  13. All genres will not be taught at each level and/or convention.

  14. Faculty is subject to change without notice.

  15. Once registration for 3D CONVENTION is submitted, it is agreed that all dancers, teachers, parents and other attendees will not hold DX EVENTS responsible for any injury or loss of property during the event.

  16. All dancers registered for the convention must have completed and signed a DX Events waiver.

CHARLEIGH FRANCE

Charleigh was introduced to dance at the age of three. Two years later, she began competing which fostered her desire to pursue a career as a professional dancer. In high school, Ms. France joined the San Jose Ballet School. Later, she attended San Diego State School of Music and Dance earning a place in their dance department. As a member, Charleigh had the opportunity to take advantage of national and international instruction, such as: traveling to Poland for the World Dance Festival, a summer intensive at Tisch School of the Arts in New York City, and master classes at Julliard. After relocating to Las Vegas, she was hired for a role with Cirque du Soleil and as a cast member of "Jubilee." Charleigh has choreographed for and performed with Barcelo Resorts and CoCo Bongo in Mexico. During this time, she was recognized by recording artists Ciara, Christina Aguilera, and Busta Rhymes. She has performed in music videos for recording artist LaMont Wheat and as a principle dancer with Twisted Movement Dance Co. Ms. France works with numerous programs across the USA teaching choreography and technique to enhance routines. She has been an adjudicator for numerous event producers including DX Events, USASF Dance Worlds, and has had the opportunity to work with Team Australia. Charleigh's career brought her back to California, where she is currently performing, choreographing, directing, teaching and the proud new owner of Freedom Blvd. Dance Co. She has continued to share her love for dance with dancers of all ages in San Diego and Northern California, where her choreography has won multiple awards. Charleigh has been involved with the 3D Convention since its inception and is the featured choreographer for the 3D Xtreme Team. She has also choreographed the DX Nationals “Parade of Stars” opening number. Charleigh’s expertise is in lyrical, contemporary, jazz, modern, pom, and musical theatre genres. She also excels in technique training, cleaning routines and teaching dancing in heels. Ms. France will be the Head Judge at all DX regional and national competitions this season. Her love of working with students is evident when she works with the dancers at conventions.

BRIANNA PENROSE

Brianna Penrose is a NYC based professional performer, choreographer, adjudicator, and educator. Her journey started in Chicago, taking part in the inaugural year of Hubbard Street’s Professional Training Program, directed by Alexandra Wells. Here she walked away with a certificate of completion for HSPro and a YoungArts winner certificate in dance/tap. Brianna also performed alongside Hubbard Street’s main company in “Danc(e)volve” in pieces by Rena Butler and Florian Lochner and in “Space in Perspective”, curated by Peter Chu. Following this, Brianna took to the “Big Apple” and is now represented by Go2Talent Agency. She is a member of “aKompany”, directed by Kenichi Kasamatsu and assists Kenichi on creative projects, such as CLI’s conservatory program. She also has been seen on So You Think You Can Dance on FOX in their top ten women, Lifetime’s Dance Moms, and HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Currently, Brianna is traveling internationally as the dance captain for Step One Dance Company, in partnership with Holland America Line. These shows “Humanity”, “Musicology”, “In Tandem”, and “Off the Charts” showcase all styles from ballroom and ballet, to hip hop and commercial jazz. Brianna loves traveling and sharing her passion for dance with the next generation - which is why she is so excited to be returning to the DX Conventions this fall.

MISTY RASCONSMITH

Ms. RasconSmith has been professionally working in the dance industry for more than fourteen years. Specializing in jazz/funk, tribal funk and hip hop genres, she brings amazing choreography and demands the best from each dancer. She has worked with numerous recording artists, such as; Natasha Beddingfield, Janelle Monae, Vanessa Hudgens, Kirk Franklin, Christina Aguilera, Pink, Britney Spears, Snoop Dogg, and Daniel Powter. You may recognize her from national television commercials for, Sunkist, Pepsi, Nike, or Sears. She can also been seen in the popular Robin Sparkles episode of the CBS hit show “How I Met Your Mother” and as a dancer and body double on Nickelodeon’s “Taina.”  She has danced for several award shows, including; the American Music Awards, Soul Train Awards, and the Latin Grammy’s. She has appeared in print ads and as a model for Adidas, Tarbell, American Greeting Cards, Best Buy, Avery, and countless others.  She is proud of her extensive dance training in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, salsa, hip hop, and more. She feels like an innovator and has created her very own style of “Tribal Funk,” and feels that she has developed something that many describe as “a movement that impacts people through dance, music, and clothing.”  As an instructor at numerous conventions and locations across the United States, including; Edge Performing Arts Center, Debbie Reynold’s, Word In Motion’s Urban Dance Festival, Groove Street, and Project Dance New York, her various styles of choreography and classes have been described as challenging, yet inspirational. Currently, Ms. Rascon Smith teaches for Dance Revolution, and is a dancer for, and directs, Word In Motion Dance Studio. Since discovering the meaning and purpose of her dancing and choreography, she is devoted to challenging and encouraging others to do the same in both life and dance. Misty will be teaching at the 3D Dance Convention Wisconsin.

JESUS ACOSTA

Jesus Acosta is originally from Guanajuato, Mexico. He started dancing at the age of eighteen at Sam Houston State University where he fell in love with dance and decided to pursue a career in dance. He recently retired from dancing full time and is looking forward to exploring different avenues in the dance world. Jesus is a founding member of the Houston Contemporary Dance company where he danced for three seasons and NobleMotion Dance where he danced for nine seasons while serving as rehearsal director. Mr. Acosta has previously danced with the Houston Metropolitan Dance Company (4 yr.), the Kista Tucker MA Dance and Auxiliaries (18 yr.) as a choreographer and judge across the United States. Aside from working with high schools throughout the US, Jesus has choreographed for the Houston Texans Cheerleaders and recently held a position as a judge on the Contemporary/Lyrical panel at The Dance Worlds, the Colorado State Champions, the Utah State Championships and DX AmeriCup. He currently teaches all levels of jazz at Dance du Coeur in Sugar Land, TX, where he has been a Company Director for the past eight years and Boni’s Performing Arts Studio in the Woodlands, TX. Jesus is looking forward to sharing his love of dance with DX dancers.

Reggie Mack is a highly accomplished and renowned choreographer with a remarkable 25-year track record in the competitive dance industry. As the esteemed founder of Reggie Mack Productions, he has continuously demonstrated his expertise and passion for dance. Reggie's outstanding achievements include being a former NDA All American and an exceptional seven-time national champion. His extensive experience has taken him across 42 states within the United States, as well as to Mexico, Canada, and Australia, where he has served as a judge, choreographer, and instructor at various prestigious events and clinics. With an impressive collection of over 200 national titles in dance and numerous World Titles to his credit, Reggie is recognized as a true luminary in the field. Through his company, Reggie Mack Productions, he offers a comprehensive range of services, including tailor-made mixes, choreography, specialized clinics, and consultancy for dance programs throughout the year. Reggie Mack's unwavering dedication, unparalleled expertise, and artistic vision have solidified his position as a respected leader and sought-after professional in the dance industry.
