“Thank you for a great week at DX Nationals. This was many of our dancer’s first experience at a Nationals and they really enjoyed their time, the master classes and they raved about the DX staff. The energy you all exuded was contagious. We really enjoyed the Final Showdown and watching the top 3 perform again. We felt this was something important for audiences to see, as we often miss routines. It also makes the kids feel special to re-perform their routines. We also enjoyed the Gala Awards. “Thank you so much for once again hosting an amazing dance event. This was our 3rd time at DX, and it is always a highlight of our dance season. I specifically wanted to thank you for offering the All American option as part of the dancer’s solo experience. I love the fact that you take the time to recognize that these dancers work hard in areas outside of dance too.

My daughter Juniper chose to participate in the All American for the first time this year, and she really enjoyed it. She is an avid reader and loves writing, so getting the chance to submit an essay and also be recognized for her academic achievements was wonderful. The interview portion made her nervous, but seeing her confident smile when she finished it just confirmed for me how great an opportunity it is for the dancers to gain new skills.

Juniper was awarded the championship trophy, and of course the coveted Rebel backpack, for her essay as well as the academic achievement award. Her genuine look of shock and beaming smile on that stage when her name was announced was everything. What an amazing experience you have provided for these dancers to be recognized on a big stage. DX truly goes out of their way to create a one-of-a-kind competition, and I hope you know that all the “extras” are recognized and appreciated by the dancers and parents alike.”

“I was impressed that each faculty member started their sessions stressing the importance of brain health and mindfulness when it comes to being an excellent dancer. Not only as a mother, but as a mental health psychotherapist, this is a huge step in breaking the stigma.

DX staff made every girl and boy feel as if they were the only one there. My favorite saying from Dan was ,”I see you!” This is used in the mental health world to show others they are not alone. Thank you for that.”

I was a little nervous going in with all the extra fun things you offered because usually when comps do this, the things offered are done very poorly but that was NOT the case at all. “DX is supportive of all programs that enter their stages. My program was 100% inexperienced with studio competitions three years ago when we entered the DX competition world. Our teachers and dancers had never competed at a studio competition. We were all nervous and uncertain of what to expect. So, having a company like DX who is understanding, patient, and helpful made our transition into competition so much easier and enjoyable! The judging panel is equally amazing. “DX has consistently been one of my daughter’s favorite comps. Not because of awards, but because of the people. Doesn’t matter if she is there doing her solos without any team mates, she always feels like she has a family standing up and supporting her. She’s made friends backstage, she has strangers in the audience who cheer, and there is never a shortage of kindness when walking around and spying a costume that you love. Adjudication and overall awards are fun, but what stands out is when we leave and all she can talk about is the kindness she was shown, from not only DX staff, but also other participants. “Our studio has attended Regionals and the Nationals for years! It’s our “go to” favorite as it appeals to both our recreational dancers and our advanced! The competition is run on time, organized and the judges comments are fair and educational. We have also attended the 3D workshops for many years. Our dancers love the opportunity to earn scholarships and special recognition at the workshops. They classes are fun, not overcrowded and taught by professionals in the industry. “This is our 2nd year doing DX conventions & competitions. I think sometimes at events like these, it’s so easy for kids to get lost in the crowd. Somehow the amazing staff at DX makes the kids feel seen, supported, & safe to be themselves! They really put so much hard work into their events, & it shows. My daughter LOVES taking classes with the DX crew, & gets so excited to see them & be a part of whatever they do!! “Good afternoon Lisa,
My experience at the DX convention in Brooklyn Park MN this weekend was one of the most eye opening dance events I have attended. I made so many new dancers with incredible personalities and felt welcomed by them and the staff. Charleigh, Dan, Brianna, and Mark helped me break out of my comfort zone and further my knowledge in my dance training as I prepare to tryout for collegiate dance teams this year. They incorporated breathing exercises into every class and got personal with each individual dancer learning my name and others throughout the weekend. Charleigh helped me film my first video for my Ohio State tryout and over the course of 48 hours helped me create a product I was proud of. She also helped me get through my mental block of right skills and in 10 minutes was able to whip out a triple pirouette on my right side. Charleigh stayed with me after the weekend convention was done just to push me to film my jazz routine one more time because she knew I could get it better and I appreciated she was willing to stay a little longer to help me out. Dan taught me how to get lose and relax in hip hop which isn’t my strong suit, but after a 1 hour private I felt way more comfortable with the genre and I am not as nervous to film the choreo for that part of my tryout. All the teachers and assistants were helpful and gave meaningful advice whether the dancer was outstanding or beginning. Mark even pushed me to try his tap class even though I haven’t tapped since I was 3. After taking that class I learned about creativity, levels, counting, and timing. Brianna showed me showmanship and stage presence. All teachers showed me that it’s okay to be silly and let loose… that’s what dance is all about. And last but certainly not least Lisa has always helped my mom, coach and studio, and me to attend these amazing opportunities and further my dance career while maintaining a positive learning environment. Thank you all so much!”
